Today, the Panthers came to an agreement with veteran player Eric Staal, signing him to a 1-year, 1-way contract worth $750,000.

Panthers GM Bill Zito broke the news this afternoon, saying, “Eric is an experienced leader in this League and a tremendous competitor. His professionalism and veteran mindset will add value to our locker room on and off the ice.”
The 17-year veteran has a 1034 point career, spanning 1293 games. He currently leads all active NHL skaters in regular season games played and ranks fifth in goals scored, making him an incredible asset to the team. He has leadership experience as the former captain of the Carolina Hurricanes for seven seasons, from 2009-10 to 2015-16. He’s a Stanley Cup champion with 6 All-Star games under his belt, as well as an All Star MVP award in 2008.
We’re thrilled to welcome Eric Staal to Florida, and can’t wait to see him on the ice in the Panthers shield.
